Title: PC/Network Support

The Sangamon County Information Systems Department is accepting applications for a PC/Network support position.

Responsibilities: Successful applicant will be joining other PC and Network support team members responsible for PC installation, PC support, and Network support for over twenty county departments. Responsible for evaluation of user requirements, hardware/software selection, purchasing, implementation and ongoing support. Responsible for networking internal PC LAN’s, IBM i, Remote Access Systems, and the Internet. Responsible for maintenance of PC's, operating system and applications; including installation and configuration of hard drives, printers, and other PC accessories. Responsible for usage of the cabling systems used for the network. Responsible for or a backup for other miscellaneous duties such as; computer room operations, general website updates, phone support, network user security, etc.

Requirements: Requires lifting of up to 50 pounds. Requires a valid driver’s license to drive to the various County office locations. Requires ability to work at a high technical level independently and efficiently. Requires ability to plan, organize, and direct the projects assigned. Requires ability to develop procedures. Requires ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Requires ability to establish and maintain satisfactory working relationships with coworkers, vendors, and County computer users. Requires employee to be a current resident or become a resident of Sangamon County within 6 months of employment.

Skills: Knowledge of set-up and installation of desktop computers, laptops, and tablets. Ability to troubleshoot hardware, software, and network problems. Knowledge of diagnosis and removal of virus/malware. Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and ability to learn various applications. Possess good organizational and time management skills. Knowledge of TCP/IP, Routers, Wireless, and other networking devices. Knowledge of installation and troubleshoot printers and scanners. Knowledge of web browsers and plug-ins. Associates Degree or technical training in PC Networking or related field is desired. One year of experience in a Personal Computer support role is desired. Prior experience doing help desk work is a plus.

Benefits: Health, Dental, Life Insurance, Pension Plan, Deferred Compensation, Paid Vacation, Sick Time, and Personal Time. Starting salary will be $43,561 to $52,276 based upon qualifications.
