The Sangamon County Clerk’s Office is seeking interested and qualified applicants for the position of Election Clerk.
Responsibilities: The Election Clerk works under the leadership of the Sangamon County Clerk and Director of Elections. This individual will process voter registrations; instruct and train deputy registrars; process early voters; assist in setting up for elections; answer voter registration and election related questions by phone and in person as needed; read and interpret maps and tax code information; provide reports, forms and labels on request; other duties as assigned.
Requirements: Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED.
Must reside in Sangamon County, or move to Sangamon County within six months of employment.
Ability to work Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 5:00pm, with possibility of overtime during Elections.
Skills: Secretarial or clerical experience; competent in Word and Excel software programs; ability to follow written and oral instructions; must be detailed oriented. Ability to effectively communicate and interact with the public on a daily basis.
