The Sangamon County Department of Public Health is seeking nurse applicants to perform duties as the Chief of the Infectious Disease Unit.
Responsibilities: The successful applicant will have the ability to perform various duties as follows:*Complete epidemiological investigations on reportable communicable diseases as required by Illinois Department of Public Health Control of Communicable Disease Code and submit completed investigations to Illinois
Department of Public Health. *Prepare for monthly TB meeting with Sangamon County Department of Public Health medical consultants and monitor Class II and Class III TB clients for medication and medical follow-up compliance. Submit TB reports as required to Illinois Department of Public Health TB Control Section and participate on special committees with IDPH TB Program. Make home visits to TB and other clients with a reportable communicable disease. Performs and assist with TB testing in clinic.*Assist in immunization clinics including flu vaccination clinics.*Provide guidelines and current recommendations for disease prevention to health care providers, workplace, child care, schools and general public. Present programs on various communicable diseases and nursing topics to student and adult audiences. *Investigate suspect and confirmed food borne illness cases. Consult with environmental health inspectors on ill food service workers.*Supervise nurses assigned to the communicable disease program. This position also requires ability to take after-hour phone calls related to communicable disease reports.
Requirements: This position requires a current State of Illinois Nursing License and Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing, preferred but not required. Past experience working in infectious disease epidemiology or certification in Infection Control and Epidemiology is preferred. Applicant must have a valid Class D Illinois Driver's License, use of personal automobile and proof of auto insurance. Applicants must be a resident of Sangamon County or be willing to move into the County within 6 months of employment.
Benefits: Salary Range: $53,211-$63,853/yr, 2 weeks paid vacation, 3 paid personal days, 12 paid sick leave days and 12 paid holidays per year. Individual and Family health, dental and life insurance options, and retirement plan.
