Sangamon County Announces New Messaging Alert System

Following a thorough evaluation and review of alert systems, Sangamon County has implemented Sangamon Alert Messaging (SAM), a high-speed emergency mass
notification service provided by OnSolve, LLC. The SAM system will serve as the backbone of the County's emergency communication outreach to both residents and
staff. The system sends telephone calls, text messages, emails, and posts to social media channels to inform residents how to better protect life and property.

Sangamon County Highway Department Announces Road Construction on CH 12 from the Sangamon County Water Reclamation District Sugar Creek Plant to the Sangamon River bridge, approximately 4 miles

Springfield - The Sangamon County Highway Department announces that construction activities will begin on CH 12, Wednesday, September 9, 2020 at 7:00 a.m. (weather permitting). Work will consist of cold in place recycling and HMA overlay. This project was awarded to P.H. Broughton and Sons, Inc. of Springfield, Illinois at the low bid amount of $2,080,788.76. Traffic will be reduced to a single lane controlled by flaggers during the work. Motorists are asked to use alternate routes if possible, and to use extreme caution in the work zone.  We anticipate completion of this work in early November of 2020.  Questions should be directed to the Sangamon County Highway Department at 217-535-3070.

Sangamon County Highway Department Announces a Road Closure on Oak Crest Road between Overpass Road and Miller Road

Springfield – The Sangamon County Highway Department announces that construction activities will begin on Oak Crest Road, between Overpass Road and Miller Road, Wednesday, August 19, 2020 at 7:00 a.m. (weather permitting). Work will consist of removal of the existing culvert and replacement with a new culvert, as well as upgrades to the roadway to meet current standards. This project was awarded to Knapp Concrete Contractors, Inc. at the low bid amount of $216,458.36. Funding for the project is 80% state funds and 20% local funds. We anticipate this road will be closed until Mid-September of 2020. Questions should be directed to the Sangamon County Highway Department at 217-535-3070.
