Welcome to the Springfield-Sangamon County Regional Planning Commission (SSCRPC)! As the joint planning body for the City of Springfield and Sangamon County, the Planning Commission is involved in many activities of interest to municipal officials in the planning region, state and federal agencies with which we interact, and the general public. This website is intended to provide a portal to the Commission, its projects and its products to anyone interested in the Planning Commission's work.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Effective July 8, 2014, the Springfield-Sangamon County Regional Planning Commission will no longer serve as Floodplain Coordinator for properties within the jurisdiction of the City of Springfield. Questions and matters related to properties in the City of Springfield should be directed to Mr. John Sadowski in the City's Dept. of Building and Zoning. He may be reached by phone at 217-789-2171, or by email at email@example.com.
Matters related to floodplain regulation in the unincorporated areas of Sangamon County may continue to be addressed to the Regional Planning Commission.
SATS has prepared the Draft FY 2015-2018 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) of road, bicycle, pedestrian, and mass transit projects in the Metropolitan Planning Area (MPA). Projects slated for implementation during each year are indicated along with the sources of funding. An Illustrative Projects List is also included to identify projects that are priorities for future transportation dollars made available to the area.
The SSCRPC recently produced an update to The Neighborhood Survey in partnership with the UIS Office of Survey Research. The report details residents’ perceptions of their current and ideal neighborhoods, and should guide future research regarding areas where improvements are needed.
An updated application for transportation projects requesting use of ST-U funds has been released. An application for review must be submitted by the lead agency for each project requesting consideration for ST-U funding.
The Sangamon County Regional Strategic Plan culminates years of planning effort by members of the community, expert planning consultants, and the SSCRPC. It provides a vision for a vital cycle of growth in the region. Click here to review the plan draft.
The Land Subdivision Committee of the Springfield-Sangamon County Regional Planning Commission reviews subdivision related items for the City of Springfield and Unincorporated Sangamon County. This application will allow the public to track the progress of a development through the subdivision process.

The Citizens’ Efficiency Commission (CEC) for Sangamon County is an independent, advisory body established by referendum in 2010, with the purpose of improving “local government effectiveness by identifying opportunities for improved cooperation, coordination and reduction of duplication of services among local governments in Sangamon County."
