Zach has been employed as a Deputy Coroner since January 2020, and Chief Deputy Coroner since December 2021.  As Chief Deputy, Zach’s job duties consist of assisting the Forensic Pathologist with autopsies, evaluating information obtained through the investigative process and providing reports regarding those findings, assist with supervision of death investigators and making initial determination regarding scope of the investigation, along with scene investigations and follow-up/case management.  He was named Co-Chairman of the State of Illinois Adult Fatality Review Team Advisory Council in 2020. Zach has worked as a Forensic Autopsy Assistant since 2016 assisting the Forensic Pathologist with the autopsy, death investigation, collecting evidence, and drawing toxicology samples.  Zach has experience working as an emergency technician at a Level 1 Trauma Center.  Zach has also worked in a surgical pathology lab and as a recovery coordinator at an organ/tissue procurement organization.
