The County Administrator is appointed and serves directly under the Chairman of the County Board. The administrator is the liaison between the Board Office and the elected officials, department heads, agencies and employees. The administrator oversees major projects for the Board Office and assists in the preparation and monitoring of the annual county budget.

The Human Resource Coordinator is responsible for reviewing job applications submitted for employment and for overseeing the implementation of the Employee Performance Pay Plan. This person also oversees the employee evaluation process and trains managers and supervisors on proper evaluation techniques. The HR Coordinator is also responsible for scheduling grievance hearings with the assigned legal representatives.

The County Board Liaison works with the Board members and is the recording secretary for all standing committee meetings. Meeting minutes are kept on file in the Auditor’s Office. The liaison prepares all annual calendars and meeting schedules for the Board members. The liaison also provides general office administrative support, coordinates assigned special projects, assists with the annual budget preparation, prepares payroll for the County Board and Dept of Building and Grounds, prepares requisitions for the Finance Committee and coordinates the information for the Sangamon County website.

The County Board Administrative Assistant is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Board Office. The assistant is secretary to the County Board Chairman and the County Administrator and is responsible for answering the phones and greeting office visitors. The assistant sets meetings for the Chairman and monitors the availability of the County Board chambers and conference room and takes reservations for their use. The assistant is responsible for paying office bills for the County Board and the Department of Building and Grounds and orders supplies. The assistant tracks and monitors all official County Board appointments for the many boards and commissions the County Board Chairman appoints.
